Yesterday the parties met to discuss the resumption of bargaining.
Back in September of 2010, the union recommended that the parties initiate bargaining the 14 individual contracts in a group setting to discuss the industry-wide core issues. This group process had been the norm during bargaining in 2007, 2004 and 2001.
Yesterday the union demanded to discontinue bargaining the 14 individual contracts in a group format. The parties are now preparing a schedule to meet and bargain with each employer individually.
The employers remain committed to obtaining a fair and reasonable agreement.
